Kathryn Tullis

Job Title – Senior Program Assistant

How long have you worked at the UBC Faculty of Medicine? I started in 2014.

Tell us what you do at the Faculty in one or two sentences Primarily, I get students into electives for the UG Year 4

program and get Clinical Faculty paid for teaching in the undergraduate and postgraduate programs. I also support the Vancouver Summer Program and the RID Cross Discipline Fellowship in Reproductive Infectious Diseases.

What’s your favourite thing about your work? I like knowing I’m contributing to the process of training more doctors.

One thing we might be surprised to learn about you I studied for a year at the University of Edinburgh, where I learned to lean into the wind.

What makes you laugh? Since the pandemic has been keeping everyone close to home, I’ve been watching a lot of travel shows—see the world from your couch! My favorite right now is Richard Ayoade’s hilarious travel series, Travel Man. He hits up top tourist destinations in Europe for a weekend with a celebrity and complains the whole time.

What makes you cry? Wow, way to bring down the mood. Things that make me cry include cruelty, injustice, and pandemics.

Most healthy habit  Laughter.

Naughty habit (that you are prepared to share with the world)! Puns.

When we are able to toast your award what will you be drinking and why? Possibly a nice cup of tea, to soothe my nerves.
